At first glance it might look like a corner eatery shop, but it is quickly turning into a “Big Dill” in Bristol Township’s Croydon section.

Located along Route 13 near Newportville Road, right next to the train station, Giovanni’s DILLicious Pickles offers a wide variety of tasty delights – all of them relating to pickles.

From appetizers of mini dill dippers and “pickle de gallo” salsa, to sandwiches, homemade pickles, and even a pickle pizza, this family-owned and -operated eatery offers a unique style of foods which are diabetic friendly and almost all gluten-free.

The concept is the brainchild of Michael Favoroso, and named after his son, Giovanni.

With help from his brother Anthony Favoroso, Michael took a longtime dream and made it a reality in the little corner shop next to the Croydon station and Dog and Bull Brew and Music House.

Starting off in the kitchen at home in Bristol, he quickly found customers through Facebook and word of mouth, which prompted him to purchase a food truck.

Even though the truck was a success with the public, local municipalities would only allow them to stay in one location for about 15 minutes at a time.

While the regulatory frustrations continued, Michael and Anthony decided to open a permanent shop, and found the corner store available near the end of 2021.

In less than three weeks from signing the lease, Giovanni’s opened just before Christmas and quickly became a local favorite.

In just two months, the deli has averaged over 150 customers a day, with repeat customers even coming in from hours away for these unique offerings.

On one day a few weeks ago they topped out with over 400 customers, proving this concept as a crowd pleaser, Michael said.

The owners credit much of the success to his social media posts.

“With the truck, and one point I had over four thousand likes and followers looking to see where I was pulling in next,” Michael told LevittownNow.com. “When this shop opened, that jumped to over ten thousand.”

In just two months since opening, the shop has drawn crowds and is proving to be successful.

There is already talk between the brothers about expanding into other locations in the region.

“Nothing closer than ten miles away,” Anthony said.

They are looking into areas from Southampton to Easton, and perhaps even down at the shore.

Michael also hopes to bring back the mobile deli truck to provide their fare at special events with local breweries, carnivals, and even the “Big Dill” festival in Maryland.

Franchising isn’t out of the question, either, which could put Giovanni’s DILLicious Pickles in locations all over the country.

Data compiled in 2020 by Statista and based on the U.S. Census and Simmons National Consumer Survey information showed pickle consumption in the U.S. is expected to grow in the coming years. Since 2011, consumption of pickles has increased in the country.
