The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully flight tested the Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV) at 11:03am on 7 Sep from Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam Launch Complex at Wheeler Island,off the coast of Odisha.
After this test, India has become the fourth country after the United States, Russia and China to develop and successfully test hypersonic technology. Now, India can develop missiles travelling at six times the speed of sound (Mach 6).

In a historic mission today, India successfully flight tested Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV), a giant leap in indigenous defence technologies and significant milestone towards a ‘sashakt bharat’ and ‘atmanirbhar bharat’, DRDO said.
DRDO with this mission, has demonstrated capabilities for highly complex technology that will serve as the building block for NextGen Hypersonic vehicles in partnership with industry.
