Calle en Israel llevará el nombre de Méxicano exitoso Andrés Roemer

Tal como lo habíamos informado,  el segundo Concejo Ciudadano -después de 40 días de ser publicado en la prensa- que la calle “El Al” en la ciudad de Ramat Gan se renombra: ¡Andrés Roemer!

Ante este gran honor el Dr. Roemer nos dio sus primeras palabras y un emotivo mensaje donde en primer lugar agradece y brinda su gratitud a los que hicieron esto posible.

“First of all, I feel enormous gratitude. Infinite thankfulness. All my appreciation to Ramat-Gan’s Mayor and the citizens of Ramat-Gan for the most surprising and humbling recognition I have ever received.

Secondly, this means a great responsibility: the “ability to respond”. Along with the colossal honor that implies having a street named after me, I see the duty to keep fighting for human rights, against hate and resolutions in any arena that go against humanity. I defended Israel at UNESCO, not because I’m Jewish, but because it was the moral thing to do. That resolution was full of hatred. This milestone in my path entails the responsibility to keep fighting for the right causes.

The third meaning of this distinction has to do with fairness. I’m thankful —again and forever— to the Mayor and the people of Ramat-Gan for bringing some justice after the painful and unjust situation that me, my family and friends had to face after I stood up in support of the truth, Jerusalem and the meaning of universal values.”

Las relaciones Andrés con Israel vienen de tiempo atras, siempre contando con personalidades del arte, la ciencia y la cultura de ese país en la reunión más importante de mentes creativas La ciudad de las ideas

Recordemos también lo acontecio  durante su gestión como Embajador de México en la Unesco, y en la cual al generarse una votación que negaba el derecho del pueblo judío al monte de Jerusalem, Andres prefirió salir de la reunión que emitir un voto en contra,lo cual le valió un reconocimiento del propio primer ministro Benjamín Netanyahu y del embajador de Israel ante ese organismo

El acto y el cambio oficial del nombre de la calle se realizará  el7 de Octubre.

Y cabe mencionar que dentro de los invitados está el embajador Macedo de México en Israel así como diplomáticos de Israel en México,miembros del gobierno así como representantes de Israel en diversos lugares y por supuesto  familiares y amigos del Dr Roemer de todo el mundo
